Discover the joy of sound in a relaxed, creative space

I collect percussion instruments—but more than that, I hunt for sound. My studio is filled not only with melodic percussion instruments but also with small sound-makers: instruments or objects made from wood, metal, ceramic, plastic that carry unique character and evoke a sense of place, a mood, or a moment. These come from all sorts of places, found in dollar shops, flea markets, or even on the street.

I created the Play ____ workshop to share the playful joy I experience while exploring these sounds. The beauty is, anyone can do it. You don’t need any musical background—just curiosity. These instruments are intuitive and easy to play. This workshop invites everyone to enjoy sound-making in an open and welcoming environment.

What to expect
Each month, we gather for a session with a new theme. Together, we explore the gentle world of percussive sound using soft and calming materials: delicate percussion instruments, household items, toys, and found objects that create soothing, meditative tones.
It’s a safe, creative space to unwind, connect, and play—with no pressure, no expectations.

Whether you come to relieve stress, learn the basics of music and listening, or simply enjoy a peaceful creative experience, each session offers an introduction to the spirit of ambient, minimalist, and environmental music. We also integrate group collaboration to foster connection and awareness.

More than a workshop—a community
Over time, I hope to build a community where people come not only once and not only to relax and create, but to support one another and grow through shared experiences in sound. We could give concerts, organise gatherings, and many more activities.

Location
The workshops take place at Treehouse NDSM, a unique artistic hub in Amsterdam Noord. Just a 15-minute ferry ride from behind Central Station, the journey itself offers beautiful views of the IJ river. Once you arrive, you can explore Treehouse artists studios and exhibitions. The surrounding NDSM Wharf is full of creative energy and industrial charm—perfect for a post-workshop wander. Great nearby spots like Pllek, IJver, and Noorderlicht are ideal for a cozy drink or lunch with friends.
